MEDICAL CANNABIS – FROM BENCH TO BEDSIDE, MBChB (Hons), DIC, FRCS, PhD, ACADEMIC CLINICALLECTURER IN SURGERY, IMPERIAL COLLEGE LONDON
Dr Mikael Sodergren MBChB DIC PhD FRCS is an academic clinician based at Imperial College London and he is also Research Director at EMMAC Life Sciences where he leads the clinical research programme on medicinal cannabis. His research interests include clinical translation of innovative technology, therapeutics and techniques in medicine. Clinically he specialises in complex liver, pancreas and keyhole surgery and through his clinical work has a specific interest in the use of cannabinoids to decrease opioid reliance following surgery. He serves on the editorial board for two prestigious medical journals and is regularly requested to review scientific research on behalf of about 50 different editorial teams. He has authored over 90 peer reviewed journal publications and regularly presents his work at international forums. The high quality of research produced by Dr Sodergren has also been recognised in the mainstream media with appearances on BBC Radio 4 “Inside Health” and in the Daily Mail.
